Lomeshaye Life WELCOME BACK from the Christmas holidays. I hope you all had a wonderful time with your families in the two weeks off school and would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. This week everyone has been quick to get back into their routines and new learning has started in most classes—keep an eye out for the class newsletters that will be coming home soon to find out more about what your child will be working on this term. This week our attendance is 96% for the whole school. With 4 Chestnut and 5 Cedar classes having 100% attendance —excellent!!! There appears to be an unpleasant sickness and diarrhoea bug affecting children at the moment so please be aware that if your child has had diarrhoea they should not return to school for 24 hours after their upset stomach has settled. Year 3 Panto— On Thursday morning all of the Year 3 pupils made a trip to Colne Municipal Theatre to watch a wonderful traditional Pantomime, telling the story of Snow White. The children were brilliantly behaved throughout the journey and the performance, joining in with the ‘booing’ and ‘cheering’ as well as the panto favourites of “oh no he isn’t” and “he’s behind you.” I am sure that this experience will be remembered for many years by your children and it will also help them during this terms writing work that is based on the traditional tales theme. House Point Winners— On Friday afternoon the winners of last terms house point competition (Darwin) were rewarded for their efforts with attitude and behaviour by having an afternoon of fun, all arranged by Mr. Heseldon. The children brought their comfy cushions and enjoyed watching the Emoji Movie as their special treat.
Schools visiting on Tuesday to take part in special PE event. New clubs will be starting. Wednesday 17th January—Whitefield Community Association Meeting 6pm at school. All local residents are welcome.
