Whole School Leadership roles Squabble Buster ‘Being a Squabble Buster means that you help to stop any arguments and squabbles. Most of the time, we just talk to children about what has happened and that helps to solve their squabbles. I offered to do this role because I like helping others and don’t like to see children feeling upset.’ Year 5, Squabble Buster
Class Chaplain ‘As a Class Chaplain, I am responsible for helping a class within the school. I spend time with them during R.E. lessons, sharing stories about Jesus and helping them to understand important religious events. I like this role because I feel like a teacher, sharing my own knowledge with others.’
Year 6, Class Chaplain
Pupils as Leaders At Corpus Christi School, we value the voice of our pupils and strive to ensure they are given opportunities to play an active role in school life. Our children are the future’s leaders and we ensure they are empowered to take on roles of responsibility and leadership throughout their time at school.

Children in the Nursery and Reception classes have many opportunities to take on class leadership roles, giving them responsibilities to be helpful and supportive to one another. Monitor roles include: helping hands, book corner monitors, hat monitors and the ‘Mess’ police. They have recently introduced parking valets to ensure that children’s vehicles are returned correctly to their numbered parking space, in the outdoor area. ‘The Mess police get to see if all the children have done good tidying. We help them to tidy too.’ Nursery child, Mess Police
Librarian
Music Prefect
‘I like being the ‘helping hands’ because you share things with everyone in your class. I like helping my teacher to tidy up the class too.’ Reception child, Helping Hands
‘As a Librarian, we are responsible for tidying the School Library and making sure returned books have been scanned onto our system. During lunchtime, we get the chance to bring the infant children over to the library to share books with them. I really like my role because I enjoy reading books! We also help to organise the activities and events during Book Week.’ Year 5, Librarian
‘I am the Music Prefect and every Friday I help to organise Junior Singing Practice. We make sure all the equipment is ready for the teacher and give out House Points to children who are trying their best to join in. We also take responsibility for setting up the instruments and equipment for Band Practice. I like this role because it’s a big responsibility.’ Year 6, Music Prefect
Key Stage 1 Children in Year 1 take on further class leadership roles such as: line leaders, cloakroom monitors, fruit monitors, weather monitors, eco monitors and a ‘carpet spy’ who ensures children are sitting in the correct place. Children in Year 2 take on similar leadership roles, with newer roles including: class PAs and play-leaders. Being play leaders gives the children their first opportunity to have a leadership role outside of the classroom by helping younger children during play, as well as tidying away after. They also have their first opportunity to be elected onto the School Council and Green Team. ‘When you’re the hat monitor, you need to get the hats and put them on the table. I like it because you have to use your mind to set them out in the right place.’ Year 1, Hat Monitor
