Friday 15th December WEDNESDAY WORD – JOY THIS WEEK – During RE we have continued to look at the Nativity story and the children have been creating pictures to represent the story and have talked about what they can remember about the events that happened. Within Literacy, we have listened to a story called Santa’s New Outfit. The children have written about their favourite outfit. In Maths, we have continued with our work on Subtraction. During the afternoon, we have been focusing on our Christmas performance and the children have also been making their calendars for the New Year. The children went on their visit to see Father Christmas and have watched the Christmas performances by the KS2 classes. Within Phonics we will be continuing to recap, all previously learned sounds and will be continuing to learn all phase 2 words so that they can be read on sight. Words will include is, it, in, on, at, as, am, an, and, I, no, go, to, the, into. The children will be working on developing their confidence in using phase 2 sounds when chopping and blending to read words and when segmenting to write words. We will also be writing simple sentences, which include these sounds. NEXT WEEK – During RE we will be continuing to look at the Nativity story and the children will be creating pictures to represent the story and talk about what they can remember about the events that happened. Within Literacy, we will be listening to a poem called The twelve days of Christmas. The children will be completing phonics assessments. In Maths, we will be completing our Post Learning on Subtraction and starting our Pre learning for our next topic. During the afternoon, we will be focusing on Christmas activities and joining in with whole school activities. Within Phonics we will be continuing to recap, all previously learned sounds and will be continuing to learn all phase 2 words so that they can read them on sight. Words will include is, it, in, on, at, as, am, an, and, I, no, go, to, the, into. We will also be writing simple sentences, which include these sounds. CHRISTMAS PERFORMANCE – Thank you for all your support with the learning of lines and creating the costumes. We wouldn’t be able to put on the performances we do with the children without your support. We are all very proud of each and every one of the children for the performance that they put on for us all. Well done everyone. CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – This weekend we would like you to look at the sounds that the children have been learning this term. S, a, t, p, i, m, n, d, g, o, c, k, ck, e, u, r, h, b, l, ll, ff, ss. Help the children with writing these letters correctly. Also look at the words I, the, no, go, to, so, and, is, it, in, on, at, am. CHRISTMAS VISIT TO SANTA –The children will enjoyed their visit to Santa they sang him songs and told him what they would like for Christmas. Santa gave them an early Christmas present for being on the Nice list.
