Friday 17th November WEDNESDAY WORD – TALENT IN NOVEMBER WE REMEMBER THIS WEEK – During RE we have found out about another faith – Judaism focusing on Hanukkah. Within Literacy we listened to the story of ‘Polar Bear, Polar Bear’, thinking about the doing words within the story and making up our own stories using the same structure within the Small world area. In Maths, we started our new topic on addition. The children have been introduced to what addition is and the different vocabulary we use when talking about addition – add, plus, more, altogether, and. The children have been working practically to work out the addition problems. During the afternoon, we have conducted a simple investigation to help us find out how Polar Bears keep warm when they are on the ice and making simple representations of polar bears using plasticine. We have also gone through the Christmas performance giving the children their parts and have started to practise the songs. Within Phonics we have been recapping, all previously learned sounds and working with the sounds ck, e, u and r and learning the words to, no and go along with recapping and, the and I.
