NEWSLETTER WEEK ENDING 17th November 2017 CLASS 4 ASSEMBLY - took place this morning. The theme was Shabbat as we have been celebrating our other faith week this week and the pupils have been learning about Judaism. Well done to all the pupils and thank you to all our visitors who attended the assembly. RABBI ERIC COHEN - was in school on Thursday to teach the children about Judaism. He spent time in all the KS2 classes and ended the day with a whole school assembly. He will be returning later in the academic year to visit the EYFS and KS1 classes. CHILDREN IN NEED - today has been a ‘spotacular’ day in school where the children have dressed in spots and raised £381.68 to support Children in Need. Thank you for your support. Pictures are on the website, twitter and flickr. SHOE BOXES - 110 shoeboxes were collected on Wednesday afternoon - a fantastic and very generous effort. Please see the reverse of the newsletter for the official certificate from Samaritan’s purse who run Operation Christmas Child. If anyone has missed the deadline we will be dropping off a few more boxes next Friday. NEWSTARTER OPEN MORNING - we are inviting any parents of children who are due to start school in September 2018 to come and look around St Oswald’s on Tuesday 28 th November at 9.30am. If you know anyone who has a child due to start school please pass this information to them. We accept pupils of all faiths or none. PHOTOGRAPHS - the deadline for orders to be returned to school is Friday 24th November. This will ensure that photographs are back in time for Christmas. Orders after the date will have to be sent directly to Tempest. ANTI-BULLYING WEEK - pupils have attended assemblies this week and taken part in activities focussing on the theme “All different, all equal” and have made displays for their classrooms. JUST JOIN IN DAY - Well done to the pupils who represented St Oswald’s so well today at this event Alisha Chadwick, Holly Caulwell-Green, Johnson Lyons-Ashworth and Alex Ball. CLASS 10 CLASS MASS - for the Faithful Departed was on Wednesday at St Oswald’s Church. The pupils were praised for their singing. Thank you to the parents and family members who attended. CLASSES 7 AND 8 - visited Styal Mill on Wednesday as part of their Victorians topic. The children enjoyed visiting Styal Village, Styal Mill and the Apprentice House. They were amazed at how life used to be for some children. Thank you to the parent helpers. FOR THE SENIOR CITIZENS OF THE PARISH - We are still collecting tinned or packet food items for our hampers. We are appealing for any soap items for hampers also. SHOES - a reminder that pupils should wear shoes, not boots or trainers in school. We are happy for pupils to walk to school in boots or trainers, but they need to change into school shoes for during the day. DATES FOR YOUR DIARY - the Christmas discos will be on the following dates - further information will follow shortly: Years 1 and 2 Monday 4 th December 4.30-5.30 pm. Years 3 and 4 Monday 11 th December 4.30-6.00pm. Years 5 and 6 Monday 18 th December 4.30-6.00pm. Tickets will cost £3 and include a hot dog and a drink. There will be a tuck shop at each disco.
