Friday 3rd November WEDNESDAY WORD – HUMBLE THIS WEEK – During RE we have been completing our topic assessment to see what the children know about Baptism. They have been role playing a baptism within their groups, thinking about the people who are at a baptism and the words spoken at a baptism. They have found out about how baptism means you have been welcomed into the church and God’s family. Deacon Paul also came into school to talk to us about the important objects used at a Baptism and the special words spoken at a Baptism. Within Literacy we have been listening to poems related to Bonfire night and the children have been trying writing about what they have done over the half term holiday. In Maths, we have been ordering selected and random numbers. During the afternoon, we have been finding out about Bonfire night and finding out about why we celebrate it. We have watched short video clips to find out more about it. We have created a variety of art work related to this theme. We have also talked about firework safety. Within Phonics we have been recapping all previously learned sounds and words and have introduced the children to the sounds m, d, g and o. CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – Thank you for all your AUTUMN TREASURE collections that you have sent in. This week we are asking the children to think about this question - What would it be like if there were no numbers in the world? What do we need numbers for? We would like the children to look out for numbers over the weekend and talk to you about what they are used for. Where possible please could you send in examples of the numbers that the children spotted on their number hunt. NEXT WEEK – During RE we will be completing our end of topic celebration for Welcome.
