Lomeshaye Life It has been a great week in school. Children have completed their tests in Maths, their results have been analysed and almost everyone has made progress this half term, which is wonderful news. Pupils have also had mentoring sessions with their teachers where new targets have been set for everyone to work on in the time we have between now and the Christmas holiday. Please check your child’s home-school journal to find out how you can help them more at home. Our attendance has also remained high for the SEVENTH week in a row. This weeks whole school figure is 98.2% - WOW, that is simply OUTSTANDING!
Park Visits Year 6— this week the children in Year 6 visited the park to carry out a Science investigation and also observe changes in the natural environment which is local to our school. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed their visit and many commented on how great the learning was and how much they like using the outdoors in their learning. Sadly, pupils in 6 Rowan were not well behaved during their visit and had to be returned to school. Immature and potentially dangerous behaviour will not be accepted in school or when on visits and we would very much appreciate parents support with this message at home. Family Friday Year 6—Thank you to all of the parents who were interested and able to come to our Year 6 Family Friday event today, it was a great turn out. Parents were able to view our new reading den, to learn about how children are taught to understand the books that they read and how they are being prepared for their SATs as well as being able to have some tasty treats. We hope that those parents that did attend have a better understanding of the work their children will be doing in school and more awareness of how they can help at home too. Year 5 Round the World Trip— This week pupils in Year 5 have been on a round the world trip taking in France, England, America and Pakistan. On their travels they have learnt about different countries, cultures and food, and have especially enjoyed eating dishes from different places and exploring dance and entertainment too. This learning will now be used in writing tasks where pupils will be comparing and contrasting the different experiences that they have had. Parent Workshops— Sadly there has been very poor attendance by parents at our recent Online Safety workshops—as a school we try to help parents as much as we can with classes and information workshops that are designed to help you more at home and to make you aware of risks that your children could be encountering when using the internet. A great deal of time and effort goes into planning the sessions and it is very disappointing when parents are not interested and do not attend. It would be great with all of our workshops if parents could show how much they care and be there in future.
