NEWSLETTER WEEK ENDING 20TH OCTOBER 2017 SCHOOL CLOSES TODAY (Friday 20th October) - and re-opens 8.50 a.m. MONDAY 30th October. November 1st is the Feast of All Saints. November 2nd is the Feast of All Souls. CLASSES 1G AND 1K HARVEST ASSEMBLY - thank you to family and friends who attended and a big well done to all the children for a fantastic first assembly at St Oswald’s. RSE WORKSHOP FOR EYFS and KS1 PARENTS - Thank you to the parents who attended this workshop and for your positive comments. The vocabulary list that was handed out is on the website. We are unable to publish the Journey in Love powerpoint that we showed at the workshops on our website due to copyright restrictions but there will be a catch up workshop later in the year for any parents who have been unable to attend either workshop this term. WHOLE SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHS - Will take place on Wednesday 1st November. Pre-school aged children who you wish to be photographed with their elder siblings will need to come to the School hall at 8.30 a.m. Brothers and sisters will be photographed together and not individually unless a written request is sent into school by Monday 30th October. Please be aware that if your child is wearing a poppy they will be photographed with it on. POPPIES - will be on sale in school for 10p from Monday 30th October. There is a list of other merchandise available on the reverse of this newsletter. TOAST MONEY - for next half term is £12.00. DINNER MONEY - for next half term is £86.00. HEALTHY LUNCHBOXES - we are trying to promote healthy eating in school. If your child has a packed lunch please could you support us in this. AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS - there will be no after schools run by Mr Osborne until further notice. LITTLE WHISTLERS - four of our pupils have trained as playground referees this week. Well done to Sky Davies, Chloe Banks, Niall Spruce and William Massey. PARENT HELPERS - we have been advised that if parents are transporting pupils to sporting competitions if they sign in at school and have a St Oswald’s visitors badge they will be able to stay and watch the competition they have provided transport for if they wish. CHILDREN DUE TO START SCHOOL IN SEPTEMBER 2018 - If you have a child whose birthday falls between 1st September 2013 and the 31st August 2014 please ensure you have completed an expression of interest form before school closes for the October half term. The Local Authority Primary School Admissions On-Line application service opens on 6th November 2017. The closing date for all applications is 15th January 2018. FRIENDS OF ASHTON - well done to Libby Rutherford for winning the poster competition run by Friends of Ashton. The judges were impressed by all of the posters entered into the competition.
