Sept 16-17 Key Stage 3 Autumn Fiction - Literature from different cultures/era. (including some nonfictional accounts) Short novel or stories set in a historical time.

Cross curricular links with History/Geography Reading for meaning:exploring the context of the novel.

Writing focus: Extended writing and punctuation.

Assessed outcome: To write a continuation of the story.

Non-fiction report writing Crime Studies Arthur Conan Doyle- Sherlock Holme and the scene of Crime.

Spring 2 + Summer 1 Class Reader: Holes Lower ability: Short stories To understand the cultural context of the novel/stories.

Summer 2 Drama (studying a play)

An introduction to Shakespeare

Exploring the play through drama and role play. Class reading of the play.

Spring Drama (studying a play Play “Romeo & Juliet A study of Shakespeare and understanding the cultural context of the play. Exploring the play through drama and role play.

Edexcel Entry Level skills R, W and S&L Practice of the skills required to pass the Edexcel exams taken in Year 11. Reading, Writing and Speaking and listening mock exams and mock assessments.

Summer Media (advertising, newspapers, magazines, interviewing etc) (AQA Units) A study of the modern media including newspapers, magazines, television news and a films review.

Assessed Outcome: Produce an advert.

YEAR 11 Storytelling To look at the conventions of stories and re-write a traditional fairy story for a younger audience.
