Friday 13th October WEDNESDAY WORD – INVITATION THIS WEEK – Within R.E we will be talking about how we welcome a new baby into our family and we have been learning about Baptism. During Literacy, we have been thinking about real life superheroes in our community (fire, police and ambulance service). We have been working together to label pictures and creating informative sentences about these people. In Maths, we have completed our post-learning task on counting and started our prelearning for our new Maths topic – ordering numbers forwards and backwards. During the afternoon, we have continued making our super hero capes and we have been working on our Harvest assembly. Within Phonics, most children have started phase 2 of our letters and sounds program looking at the letters s,a,t and p, however we have still been reinforcing some of the Phase 1 activities, especially for oral chopping and blending and oral segmenting, along with rhyming words. CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – Thank you for all the Parent and Child voice sheets that you have completed with your child. It has provided us with more information about your child. This week we are asking you to talk to your child about their Baptism and, if possible, talk to them about their God Parents, show them their Baptismal candle and any photographs of the day. We would appreciate it if you could send some of these into school for us to share with the other children and add to our, “Welcome,” display. Thank you for your support with this. NEXT WEEK – Next week in R.E, we will be continue to learn about Baptism and focus on some of the artefacts and objects related to Baptism. During Literacy, we will be thinking about Autumn and listening to some Autumn poems. We will be having a go at writing a sentence and labels relating to Autumn. In Maths, we will be starting our work on ordering our numbers to 10. During the afternoon, we will be practising our assembly ready for Friday. Within Phonics, most children will be recapping s, a, t and p and introducing the children to i and n, along with the words a, and & I. LIBRARY VISIT – The children went on a visit to Ashton Library today. Thank you to all the parents who came to help us on this visit. HARVEST ASSEMBLY - Next week we will be thinking about and practising our Harvest assembly. Some children have small parts to learn. If your child has a part, please help them to learn their words and encourage them to speak their words in a loud and clear voice. Everyone will be involved in some way or another, either speaking, role-play or joining in with poems and songs. Your child will be involved in their first assembly on Friday 20th October. The focus of our assembly will be Harvest. All family and friends are welcome. Please come to the hall from 9.05am onwards and the assembly will start shortly after this. An invitation will be sent home nearer to the date.
