Lomeshaye Life This has been a busy week once again in school. Everyone is working incredibly hard and making good progress. Next week will be assessment week for all pupils, so it is very important that everyone is in school each day and that children get to bed early every night so that they can perform at their best. More good news this week for attendance. We have managed to keep the whole school figure above target at 97.3% for the SIXTH WEEK IN A ROW. Absences in 6 Ash, 6 Elder and 3 Maple meant that these classes were all below 96%. Please do your best to be in school every day to keep our attendance as high as it can be. RSPB Trip— This week all of our Year 4 pupils went to the RSPB Centre in Lytham to learn about rivers. This has helped them with their study in Geography this half term and has also allowed them to see first hand how a river flows into the sea and what wildlife enjoys the river bank and coast as their natural habitat. The pupils were very well behaved while out of school and all staff were very proud of the way they conducted themselves. Well done Year 4. The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe— We had a visiting theatre company in school this week to put on an amazing performance of the C.S Lewis classic children’s story The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Children were whisked back in time during the performance to see the Pevensie children have a magical adventure in Narnia where they met Mr. Tumnus and his friends, including the wonderful Aslan—a heroic lion that helped to turn the land of Narnia from eternal Winter to Summer once again.

Headlice— There have been some cases of headlice (nits) in school over the last week and I would like to ask all parents to spend some time over the weekend checking their children’s hair and treating any suspected headlice with a shampoo treatment from the chemist or supermarket. Headlice are very itchy and spread incredibly quickly. Repeated treatments are essential to make sure they are completely gone from a persons head. Pillows, clothes and bedding also need washing at high temperatures. If a child comes to school and is found to have headlice they will be sent home until they have been treated. Author of the Month— Each month we are going to be helping children to find out about different authors and encouraging them to read more books for pleasure. Competitions and celebrations will take place in school to help children to take part in our Author of the Month work. The Author of the Month for October is David Walliams—why not visit the library over the weekend to see if you can find some good stories together by this very funny writer.
