Law What is Law? ‘The law’ is the group of rules that have developed to make citizens know what their rights and responsibilities are. This is to make sure people can live together safely and peacefully. Laws tell citizens what behaviour is acceptable, and what is not acceptable. People talk about ‘the law’ when they talk about all the laws of the country, and also about the people who put them into force.
