Drama is a popular subject at BRGS and there has never been a more auspicious time to study this discipline! Over the past 10 years, the number of candidates nationally taking A level Drama has more than doubled; this is in harmony with the proliferating number of job opportunities within the creative sector. Jobs in television, film, theatre, radio, journalism, PR, management, advertising, design, teaching, law etc. all require strong communicators. Communication skills are highly coveted in today’s workforce at a time when new technologies and the Internet are impairing direct contact. Such skills are crucial if you are to really be at the top of your chosen career. Drama will develop these skills and also you as a person by calling on you to understand what makes people tick, and in turn, what makes you, you! You will analyse plays and films, re -enact some of your favourite scenes and develop your confidence, creativity and higher-order thinking skills. As well as learning acting technique, you will hone your writing skills profiting all English study.

The Drama department at BRGS is achieving grades in the top 10% of results nationally. We study the AQA Drama and Theatre course as it is recognized by all universities and drama schools.

Requirements: 

To study Drama & Theatre Studies at BRGS you need a good pass in GCSE English (preferably Grade B or above). Drama is an academic subject at BRGS in addition to the practical work!



It is not essential to have studied Drama at GCSE although any involvement in local drama groups will certainly help



You should try and see as much live theatre as possible
