Chemistry THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE CHOOSING TO STUDY AQA CHEMISTRY AT BRGS 2018/2020 You will need
A MINIMUM of grade 6 in GCSE chemistry. A strong mathematical ability (recommended minimum 5 at GCSE). The A-level has a 20% GCSE Higher mathematics component. The ability to work independently, be self-motivated and committed to spending a minimum of 5 hours per week outside lesson times engaged in chemistry private study.
Advanced level Chemistry is a challenging subject even for the more able student and requires hard work throughout the course. You will be encouraged to enter national competitions like the Bill Bryson science competition, The Corpus Christi Chemistry Competition and The Big Bang, or international competitions like the Royal Society of Chemistry’s International Olympiad.
