NEWSLETTER WEEK ENDING 6TH OCTOBER 2017
CLASS 8 ASSEMBLY took place today. Thank you to the parents and family members who attended and well done to all the children. The theme of the assembly was ‘Brighten up the Harvest’ and Class 8 have raised £38.85 for CAFOD by selling cakes this week. CLASS 6 ASSEMBLY is on THURSDAY 12th OCTOBER and CLASS 7 ASSEMBLY is on FRIDAY 13th OCTOBER. Both assemblies are in the school hall and start at 9.10am. Family and friends are most welcome. CLASS 11 CLASS MASS - Thank you to everyone who attended. The focus of the Mass was The Feast day of St Francis of Assisi. The children were particularly praised for their singing. Y5/Y6 MATHS WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS - Thank you to the parents who attended and took part in this workshop. The slides form the workshop are on the website. If any parents who could not attend would like a copy of the handouts please approach the classteacher. We are planning a further workshop in the Spring Term focussing on fractions and percentages. AFTER-SCHOOL CLUBS NEXT WEEK - Unfortunately we have had to cancel next week’s Monday Basketball, Tuesday Rugby, Thursday Volleyball and Friday Football clubs. Children need to be collected from school at 3.30pm. We apologise for any inconvenience. Wigan Athletic, Judo and Mad Science will go ahead as usual. TOOTOOT - usernames and passwords for KS2 pupils are being generated and will be sent out next week. The children attended an assembly this week lead by Mr Moore from tootoot who explained how the platform works to the children. EXTREME HAIRSTYLES - Please note that very short or shaved hair is not appropriate for school. Please adhere to the school’s uniform policy. MACMILLAN - The staff raised £104.71 for Macmillan Cancer Care this week by donating food and money and sharing a lunch together. COUNCIL AVENUE - we are still experiencing problems with the numbers of cars accessing Council Avenue to drop children off. Please use the market car park and walk the short distance to school. Only blue badge holders should be on Council Avenue. Y2 FOOTBALL COMPETITION - Today our Y2 footballers made it into the last 16 of the competition at the Soccerdome before being knocked out. Their attitude and application was excellent. Well done to Xavier Verinder, Rhys Biddiss, Harry Cushion, Matthew Cowburn, Charlie Meehan, Keegan Pickering, Harrison Ince, Noah Holding, Henry Turner and William Catterall.
