Friday 6th October WEDNESDAY WORD – MESSENGER THIS WEEK – Within RE we have started our new topic on WELCOME and have been talking about how we are welcomed or make others feel welcome. The children have worked as a class to create a welcome to our class sign and have learned how to say hello in French, Polish and Portuguese. During Literacy, we have been thinking about describing words that describe the different Superheroes. In maths, we have been counting reliably and writing numbers. During the afternoon, the children have been making their own Super hero capes thinking about which material will be best to make the capes and creating patterns on them. Within phonics, we have continued to work on Phase 1 activities focussing particularly on oral chopping and blending and oral segmenting. CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – This week we are asking you to fill in the Parent and Child voice sheets that are in your child’s orange file that has come home today with their Interim report. Also please could you look through your child’s learning journal on See-Saw with the children and encourage the children to talk about what they have been up to in school. NEXT WEEK – Next week within RE we will be talking about how we welcome a new baby into our family and will be learning about Baptism. During Literacy, we will be thinking about real life superheroes in our community (fire, police and ambulance service). We will be working together to label pictures and also create a “People who help us book”. In maths, we will be completing our post-learning task on counting and starting our pre-learning for our new maths topic. During the afternoon, we will be continuing with the designing and making of our Super hero capes as not all children have completed these. We will also be using the computer to find out more information about People who help us. Within phonics, most children will be starting phase 2 of our letters and sounds program looking at the letters s, a,t, p, however we will be still be reinforcing some of the Phase 1 activities for oral chopping and blending and oral segmenting. PARENT INTERVIEWS – We will be holding our first Foundation Stage Parent Interviews on Tuesday 10th October 2017. Your interview time is inside your child’s orange file. If you have still not received an interview time we urge you to see the class teacher to arrange a convenient time. There are still a number of time slots available. ORANGE FOLDERS – The children have brought home their orange files tonight. Inside the file is information regarding your child’s on-entry information. You will find their on-entry report and attendance report. Also inside the orange folder there is a parent and child’s Voice sheet which we would like you to fill in with your child. These will need to be returned along with the orange folder on Monday Morning. Please sign them once you have filled them in. Please be reminded that it is important that you contribute to your child’s profile assessments giving us an insight into what they can do independently at home and it is important that you continue to send in any observations that you make at home of your child.
