Lomeshaye Life It has been another action packed week at Lomeshaye. Classes are working hard with their learning and I have been very impressed with the improvements in pupils vocabulary that I have seen and heard over the last week. Every child in school now has a special, personal vocabulary book that they can add new and interesting words to that will support them in their learning in all areas of the curriculum. I am also incredibly proud to announce that for the 5th WEEK IN A ROW our attendance is above target at 98.4% for the whole school. Keep it up everyone! Life Education Bus— This week we have welcomed the Lancashire Life Education Bus to school to come to work with pupils on aspects of health and wellbeing. The staff that we have worked with promote healthy life-style choices with children and explain the risks associated with some choices that people make about what they put into their body as they are growing up. These sessions are very valuable to our children as it helps them to understand how the consequences of some of the choices they may make now and in the future will affect their health. There will be character keyrings and wrist bands available to buy in school next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for £1 if any children would like to buy them. Reading and Maths Workshops—Mrs Safdar has started some excellent reading and maths workshops for parents, taking place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. These sessions are provided FREE of charge to help parents to understand more about how we teach reading and maths and how you can help your children with work at home. Reading is a very big priority for our school and a skill that everyone needs for their whole life. So why not come along to find out how you can help to make your children better at it? Speak to Mrs. Safdar at any time to find out more about the classes. Homework—Thank you to all of the parents that completed our homework questionnaire. Your responses are very valuable and we will be using them to make some changes to how we create and set homework tasks in the future. I hope that you will enjoy the new homework style and that your children will be able to complete better quality learning at home once the changes are in place.
