Our News! Thank you to all of the parents who attended the meeting about Communication, Language and Literacy this week. We hope that you found it useful. For anyone who was unable to attend the meeting, the slides and booklets with handy tips and ideas that you may find useful are on the Ducklings Class page of the school website. The children must all be amazing you at home at the moment as we are receiving lots of Wow moments slips back! We have put some on the Parents’ Information wall in the cloakroom if you would like more. A big thank you, also, to the parent who brought us all the fir cones for our Christmas decorations. We have been enjoying learning all about the different parts of our body and finding out what our amazing bodies can do! We have been reading a non-fiction big book together called ‘All about ME!’ The children have enjoyed reading facts and identifying some of the features and punctuation found in a non-fiction book. We have been writing and drawing about how we look after ourselves and stay healthy. We have also been exploring our senses and talking about what we like to see, hear, touch, taste and smell. Through snack time we reinforce the need to eat and drink healthily. We have been making a healthy snack with bananas and toast. This has also given us the opportunity to use our physical skills to practise spreading, cutting and slicing with a knife. We have enjoyed drawing and painting our favourite meals that we love to taste! In Phonics we have been learning the sounds s and a, practising writing them, looking out for these sounds around the classroom and sorting objects that begin with these sounds. We hope that you are enjoying reading their first reading books with them. In Mathematics we have been busy counting carefully and recognising numbers up to 10 and 20. We have investigated how big our hands are by finding out how many cubes we can hold in one hand. Outdoors some of us have been measuring how tall our friends are using building bricks to count. In our physical activities we have enjoyed dancing to the Funny Bones song and explored different movements and actions that our amazing bodies can do. A very active few weeks!
