Year 11 Music GCSE Assessment Summary Date Assessment 1 September to end-November:

Topic / Task GCSE 30% Performance, 30% Composition. 40% written Listening Exam.

Type of Assessment Formal assessment

Assessment 1st November Assessment 2 December to January

GCSE Performance Exam will be during this period.

100% practical.

For the purposes of reporting parents will receive a grade that reflects their actual grade for the practical exam and their current working at grade for the written exam as expressed in a 30%/30%/40% split.

Controlled assessment Submission of both Composition pieces and Performance pieces by Easter. This include a solo and ensemble performance, which is recorded in January.

Formal Assessment for mocks analysis.

Assessment 23rd January Assessment 3 February to March Focus on Listening exam

100% written assessment but assessment grade for reporting purposes will still reflect a 60%/40% split as this gives a true reflection of overall attainment.
