Friday 29th September WEDNESDAY WORD – CHANGE THIS WEEK – During our Come and See (R.E) activities the children have talked about all they can remember about our topic on Myself, thinking about their names and how we are all unique and how we are precious to God. During Literacy, we have been writing captions about Superheroes, what they are doing and what they may be saying. They have had a go at writing labels for the Superheroes listening to and writing the initial sounds in their names. Within Maths, the children have been reading numbers and counting out a smaller number of objects from a larger set. In the afternoon, they have been learning Superhero songs and adding actions to them. They have also been clapping out different rhythms using the superhero names. CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – Thank you for that dreams that you have sent in for your child, we hope we can fulfil these for you. Please continue to send them in if you haven’t already done so. We will be making a display of this to remind us of what you want for your child. This week we are asking you to talk to your child about ways in which they have been made to feel welcome at school, at home, after school clubs etc. We would also like to ask if you could send in an old plain pillow case with your child so that they can design and make their own Superhero cape. NEXT WEEK – Next week within RE we will be starting our new topic on WELCOME and talking about how we are welcomed . During Literacy, we will be thinking about doing words and writing these next to the Superheroes to show what their super power is. In maths, we will be counting reliably and writing numbers. During the afternoon, we will be designing and making our own Super hero capes thinking about which material will be best to make the capes. Within phonics, we will be focusing on Phase 1 activities focussing on oral chopping and blending and oral segmenting. The children will be tuning in to the sounds that they hear at the beginning of words and sorting objects into the correct set.
