Friday 22nd September WEDNESDAY WORD – GENEROUS THIS WEEK – During our Come and See (R.E) activities the children have continued listening to and talking about the Psalm 131 I trust you God. Just like a baby safe and snug, being carried in a mum’s arms. So I can rest in your love. So gently held. So lovingly held. So good to be in your care. I will rest in your love for me. We have also been thinking about what God says “You are precious to me, I love you, I know you, I know your name. You are my child.” They have made clay circles with their thumb prints on ready to take home at the end of the topic. The children have also been thinking about what will make our classroom a happy place to be – we will be using their ideas to create a display. Throughout the week the children have continued to learn about the routines of our setting, finding out about where things live and working on our team work at tidy up time. We have continued to complete our baseline assessment where the children have been completing a variety of tasks - they have been listening and talking about the stories we have heard, they have been writing their names and they have been creating models in the creative area. We have also continued to observe how the children interact with each other during their play and listening in on their conversations with each other. CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – Thank you for your objects related to our senses the children have enjoyed exploring them. This week we are sending home a page from your child’s learning journey file. We would like you to write your dream/wish for your child whilst they are here with us in the Foundation Stage. It may be that you want them to be happy and make friends, or that you wish them to reach their full potential and enjoy learning, or it could be that you want them to be safe and happy so that they can learn and be the best that they can be. These dreams are personal to you and what you want for your child whilst they are at school. Please return them to school on Monday so that we can add them into your child’s file. NEXT WEEK – We will be continuing to go over our rules and routines and ensuring that all children can work independently within the areas. Within RE we will be coming the end of our topic of Myself and completing our end of topic celebration. During Literacy, we will be thinking about doing words and writing these next to the Superheroes to show what their super power is. In maths we will be focusing on a topic on numbers and counting. This will go on over 3 weeks. During the afternoon we will be completing music activities as part of our onentry assessments. Within phonics we will be focusing on Phase 1 activities looking at alliteration. The children will be tuning in to the sounds that they hear at the beginning of words. Playing ‘I Spy’ and sound sorting games. PRESENTATION MASS – Thank you to all the parents and children who attended our Presentation Mass last Sunday. It was lovely to see you all there. Please where possible take your child to Mass each Sunday as it is an important part of their Catholic Faith. The children are always very welcome to go to little church during the Mass.
