14 SEPTEMBER 2017

St. John’s RC Primary School Weekly Update It’s been another exciting week at St. John’s with lots going on across the school. At St. John’s we believe that the involvement of our children in all areas of school life is very important. We have created Pupil Leadership Teams in all of the KS2 classes so that all children now have more of a voice in the decisions taken in school that affect them. Year 3 are going to be our Eco Warriors, Year 4 the Digital Leaders, Year 5 will be our Spiritual Leaders and Year 6 are our prefects and Head Girl/ Head Boy. The children have also voted this week for their class councillors who will sit on our School Council. All children nominated themselves. They made speeches in class and then voted in our election on Friday. Our Health and Wellbeing Council (Sports Council) were also voted for and their focus this year is still around sport but with a greater focus on keeping us all healthier. We look forward to seeing what plans our new school councils will come up with in the year ahead. The children in Y3EB/JW visited the Marist on Tuesday and had a wonderful day as they begin a very special year. In preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation, they spent the day thinking about how to make their relationships with others stronger by being able to ‘build bridges’ when things go wrong.
