Lomeshaye Life We have had a great start to the new school year. All of the children have settled very well into their new classes and I have been really impressed with their attitudes to learning in the first two weeks of the year. I hope that everyone in school continues to work hard all half term and that we see some great progress from all of the pupils.
Learning Themes— all of our classes have spent the first two weeks of the year focusing on an “Ourselves and Our Rights” theme in school. This is a good way of settling into the new school year and a way for teachers to learn something about each person in their class. As a school this year we will be beginning our journey to becoming a Rights Respecting School. This means that we will be teaching everyone about the ‘UN Convention on the Rights of the Child’ and our pupils will have an understanding of their rights and responsibilities through this. Other learning for this half term includes: Our Kingdom in Year 3, Raging Rivers in Year 4, Amazing Anthropoids in Year 5 and Stand and Deliver in Year 6. Look on the school website to find more information on these great learning themes. Learner of the Week—each week I will be picking one or two children from across school to be our Learner of the Week. This means that they have shown some great learner behaviour or are becoming a powerful learner in the way that they approach their work at school or at home. The Learner of the Week will be photographed, along with their work and this will be displayed on our school website. A school postcard will also be sent home to notify parents and family members of their child’s achievement.
