Mrs Monica Stout – Vice Chair of Governors I have over twenty years of experience of governance in Blackpool schools.

I worked at Mereside School as a teacher and served as a staff governor. Upon retirement, I continued to serve as an Associate governor, then became a Co-opted governor and since January 2015, felt privileged to be elected Chair of Governors.

I aim to foster a strong purposeful relationship with the Headteacher and staff and together with the members of the Governing Board continue to strive for school improvement.

Mrs Margaret Hayhurst – Co-opted Governor I became a Governor at Mereside Primary School because I have lived on Mereside for many years and know the problems faced by the community.

I wanted to make a difference, however small.

Parent Governors Mrs Rebecca Tan – Parent Governor I wanted to be a Governor at Mereside Primary School as I wanted to be a representative and contact for the parents of our children at Mereside. In my role as a Parent Governor, it means that I can be as involved in my child’s time at Mereside Primary School as much as I can be. I am actively involved in the school every day and also play a key role in involving the parents, grandparents and carers within the community by not only by being a familiar face, but also by supporting the school through its methods of communication both verbally and using and updating social media sites daily. This means I have constant communication with the school which I can use to ensure parents are as up to date as they can be and I would welcome any opportunity to help and listen to other parents/guardians views.
