Attendance Attendance summary from 5th September to 18th may Nursery - 82% Reception - 83% Year 1 - 95% Year 2 - 96% Year 3 – 96.6% Year 4 – 97% Year 5 – 96% Year 6 – 96% Above are the attendance percentages for this school year so far the total percentage for the whole school is 95.6% this is significantly below our school target of 98%! The above highlighted classes is where significant improvement is needed. Two areas for improvement for attendance are children receiving free school meals and children on the SEN register who are significantly below the school target with the exception of years 5 & 6. These areas will be closely monitored be the senior leadership team in school to ensure attendance improves.

OFSTED 2013: ST Anne’s is a good school!

Lateness Recently we have noticed an increase in children being brought into school late, may I remind you that school opens at 8.45am with children starting lessons at 8.55am. Your child/children being brought in late is not only being marked on the register but it is disruptive for staff and pupils. If your child is late please bring them into the school office and not to the gate as you need to sign the late book.

Water bottles Please ensure your child brings home their water bottle every day and it is washed with hot soapy water and brought in again the next day. You can also send your child in with bottled water if you wish but please no flavoured water or fizzy drinks.

Parents evening Please return the slips for parents evening as soon as possible if you have not already done so. This parents evening is NOT an opportunity to view your child’s work as it is being held in the hall.

Polish Cultural Evening A massive thank you and well done to all the polish parents and children for such a great evening, everybody had a wonderful time and enjoyed the food, dance and entertainment. Also a big thankyou to all parents, children and staff who attended and supported such a great evening.

Sporting news Well done to our rounder’s team who took part in their competition this week – although they didn’t win the children had a wonderful time. Also well done to our cricket team who are through to the City wide final Good luck!

Bishop visit The bishop is coming to do mass on Sunday 25 th June at 10.30am as part of the centenary celebrations for St Anne’s Parish. We would like to see as many parents and children as possible please.

Sacramental programme The next two meeting are on Saturday 21st May at 1.45pm and Sunday 22nd May 10.30am at mass, it is essential that all children on the sacramental programme attend.

Update on development work during the holidays There will be numerous jobs being completed in the next half term including a new fence in the reception area, Air conditioning in upper key stage 2 classes to make teaching and learning more comfortable and corridors being re-painted.

Keeping our children safe Part of our school agenda and priority is keeping our children safe and to promote this our year 5 & 6 children will be doing a workshop in the coming week to learn about radicalisation and being able to understand how to keep safe.

Year 6 visit to North Manchester General Hospital Our year 6 children will be visiting North Manchester General Hospital on Thursday 25th May to learn first Aid, this is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn some basic first aid.

Raising aspirations Year 6 will be going to Manchester University on the 16 th June as part of our raising aspirations to have a look round and have a taste of student life and speaking to current students about and tips or help they can help with. Prior to this we will be having an Ambassador from Manchester University visiting the school and a talk with the year 6 children.

Sunday 22nd May – mass at church for Sacramental programme.

Thursday 25th May – Year 6 first aid training at North Manchester General Hospital.

Friday 26th May – Parents evening 1.30 - 6pm.

Tuesday 13th June – Blackpool Zoo trip Year 1 Wednesday 14th June – Blackpool Zoo Year 2 Friday 16th June – Year 6 visit Manchester University.

Sunday 25th June – Bishop conducting mass 10.30am at church Friday 14th July – Sunday 16th July - Year 6 residential trip to Winmarleigh hall.
