Summer 1 in 4W Literacy
This term we will be looking closely at a picture book called Tuesday. We will start the unit as detectives investigating what strange event took place on Tuesday night. We will write questions for an interview, witness statements and report about the event in the local newspaper.
Maths
In maths lessons this term 4W will learn how to calculate perimeter and revise finding the area of a shape. Children will also convert different units of measurements for length, weight and capacity. We will also revise identifying different angles and cover symmetry and coordinates. We will continue to learn our times tables up to 12 x 12 and the corresponding division facts.
Science
Living things is the name of our science topic this term. We will learn about classifying different animals and plants and head outside for own bug hunt. Computing
We will use some of our computing time to research different living things connected to our science and literacy topics. We will also become HTML editors this term.
Music 4W will continue with their ukulele lessons and take part in singing lessons every Thursday.
Topic This term we will have a geography focus looking closely at different cities. Researching cities in England and across Europe and deciding what makes a good city. We will set ourselves the challenge to learn as many English and European cities as we can! Religious Education Our topic this term is called Pentecost – Serving. We will discuss how the Spirit of God is active in each person and share how the Good News can be proclaimed everywhere in the world. During the topic we will read from Luke’s gospel.
PE The children will attend swimming sessions at Abraham Moss on Wednesdays and have PE lessons on a Friday afternoon, in the school hall. Children should have their full PE kit in school all term, including trainers or pumps.
