Friday 28th April 2017 Our News! We had a lovely start to our new term with an Art and RE morning, whereby all the Ducklings made collage crosses. The children found out why the symbol of the cross is so important to Christians and have used them to make a lovely display in the hall. We were visited in school by a vicar who told the children all about the Baptism ceremony. Thank you to the children who have brought in any special photographs or objects from their own christenings. We had a lovely morning last week when we visited St Martin and St Hilda’s Church. Reverend Carolyn was very impressed with the children’s behaviour and all of their interesting questions. A big thank you to all of the parent helpers who made this trip possible for us. The children are thoroughly enjoying writing their news independently. They have enjoyed sharing with us how they celebrated Easter. Thank you to all of the children who have returned their homework news books. It has been lovely to see how the children are increasing in confidence with their independent writing. Remember to support them with this, if they need it, but really we want the children to write independently! We would not expect to see every word spelt correctly at this stage! We have made some fantastic repeating patterns with numbers, body shapes and even musical patterns with the percussion instruments. In Literacy the children have been listening to and writing lists of rhyming words. We have enjoyed reading some very funny rhyming stories! A big ‘well done’ to all of the children who decorated an egg over the Easter holidays and brought it in for our competition! They were all lovely! Well done to Oscar Heaton and Cohen Haworth our winners!

STARS OF THE WEEK Alice Turner for her fantastic writing and being a super star ‘vicar’ when we had a special visitor in school. Milo Holroyd for having a great knowledge of halving and doubling, as well as being a super star at rhyming! Harvey Ashworth for super reading and enthusiasm for learning and Zack Johns for his super writing this week. Our next newsletter will be on Friday 12th May and will give details about all the fun activities we have planned. Any questions please don’t hesitate to ring, email or come and see us.
