Lomeshaye Life WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL—we hope that you all had an enjoyable holiday. Everyone in school is ready to complete some wonderful and exciting new learning this half term. Easter School— over the Easter holidays the teachers from Year 6 gave up 3 days of their holiday to work with their classes giving them an extra boost before the SATs begin. Thank you to all of the pupils and families that attended the club, it was a great 3 days and the children were able to focus on aspects of their work that will help them when the exams begin in 2 weeks time. Shelterbox—over the holiday I went to represent the school at a presentation evening for the fund raising we did almost 2 years ago to buy two Shelterboxes for people who had found themselves homeless due to natural disasters or war in their own countries. A Shelterbox is a fantastic pack of equipment including an enormous tent, cooker, kitchen equipment and tools that will help to sustain a up to 10 people when they have been made homeless because of a disaster such as a flood, earthquake, tsunami or war. Miss Wallace has been following where the Shelterboxes we bought have been sent to and both have been used to help families in war-torn Syria. As a school we were presented with a special plaque and two of our school councilors , who had submitted posters for a competition, won a £10 and £20 gift voucher for their art work. Congratulations to Sohaib Sarwar and Isra Hayyat and thank you for all of the fund raising efforts that you so generously support. Attendance— after a very poor end to last term with our attendance I am pleased to note that the 12 children that were taken on holiday during term time have now returned to school. It is great to have them back, but sadly they will never catch up on the learning that they have missed and this will have a negative effect on their progress. This chart shows how having time off during the school term affects our attendance. We had only 92.8% in the last week which would be graded INADEQUATE by Ofsted—do you want this for our school and for your children?

Tuesday and Wednesday—Year 3 and 4 pupils attending Seedhill for Athletics training. Thursday -Women of White field visit Ingleton Falls.

Well done to all of our award winners this week. Keep up the great work and be proud !
