DID YOU KNOW ?

MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS All medical appointments should be made after school or in the holidays, except hospital appointments which can not be avoided. Far too many children are missing out on their education to attend a dental check-up when this could be booked in advance, e.g. in the holidays. Next time you are booking dental appointments for your child take the school holiday dates with you. If you need a copy of the dates please ask at the school office.

FACT! A child on holiday for 2 weeks during term time will miss 50 hours of lessons and most never catch up. As a parent, you have a legal responsibility to make sure that your child goes to school everyday between the ages of 5 and 16. You are not entitled to take your child out on leave for any length of time. If you do choose to take your child you will be prosecuted and a fine will be issued by Lancashire County Council. If your child does not attend regularly, an Education Attendance Officer may call at your home to discuss the problem.
