Monday 20th March 2017 Our News! Firstly a huge thankyou to all of the parents and grandparents who gave up their time last Wednesday to help move our delivery of soil and bark! (Our sand is yet to arrive!!!) The Yellow Ducklings were amazing in their assembly last week and I am sure that the Brown Ducklings will be just as fantastic tomorrow. They spoke clearly and loudly with confidence on the stage and enjoyed sharing all that they had learned about dinosaurs with their families and friends. Well done! Sadly our Dinosaur topic has come to an end, but it has been a roaring success! The children know so many different facts about the dinosaurs. They would make great palaeontologists of the future! They have imagined what it would be like if the dinosaurs came back and have written their own ’facts’ for the dinosaurs which they created themselves! They have enjoyed exercising their gross motor skills by digging, raking and sieving to look for dinosaur bones and eggs! They were also amazed to see just how big these creatures were, when they used a metre ruler to measure out the real life height and length that some of the dinosaurs were. In Mathematics the children have been exploring doubling numbers and the opposite which is halving. We started with real objects to double and share in half, but now the children are becoming familiar with these facts and know some off by heart! During Science week the theme was changes. Some of the changes they observed were the changes to spring flowers as they bloomed, the changes to colours as they mixed together, a hatching dinosaur egg and they even found a real changing chrysalis in our school garden! STARS OF THE WEEK Evelyn Bradbury for all of her hard work and effort with her writing and Holly Bradbury for her reading and phonics skills, which she is now applying really well in her writing. OUR SUPER SCENTISTS Zach Hobbs and Anabelle Coughlan were chosen for our super scientist awards at the end of Science Week. Well done!

Our next newsletter will be on Friday 3rd March and will give details about all the fun activities we have planned. Any questions please don’t hesitate to ring, email or come and see us. Staff email: Mrs Catterall m.catterall@carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk Mrs Lees s.lees@carletongreen.lancs.sch.uk
