From September 2017 • A Levels (level 3) • BTEC Nationals (level 3) • Cambridge Technicals (level 3) • 30 courses to choose from (choose 3 subjects) • All 2 year courses (no AS) • Entry requirements vary from subject to subject

Entry requirements • Typical requirement for a level 3 course might be a minimum of 5 A*-C or higher , including English and Maths (grade 4 or higher) • Some courses e.g. Science and Maths routes- 5 A*-B or higher incl. Eng/Maths grades 5/6/7 • Certain A level courses might require a specific grade at GCSE

Timetable in September • Students following 2 year courses –blocked am and pm - 5 hours of teaching – No AS exams, only A Level • 3 chosen subjects is the norm • Registration group (assigned tutor) • Tutorial-once a fortnight –Guest speakers, topical debates, employment and higher education advice, study skills etc • “Study” (non-contact) time

Opportunities and enrichment in the Sixth Form Sixth Form students as role-models to younger students All students should volunteer to be involved in an activity, beyond their studies or paid work, to enhance their CV / UCAS application forms e.g. volunteering (NCS), charity work in the local community, in-class support/ peer mentoring in school/fund-raising • Trips – nationally and internationally recent visits include Kenya, Prague, Rome, Auschwitz , New York, London, Paris, Stratford.

Attendance Tracking • Attendance is tracked and reviewed on a weekly and half-termly basis.

• Individual student attendance is monitored, along with the attendance of each tutor/year group.

Attendance Intervention: • Tutor 1:1 • Parental contact – phone call/letter • Parent/Head of Sixth Form meeting

Data Collections • We have five scheduled data captures across the school year.

• This helps inform intervention and track student progress.

• Information sent home to parents.

Resit English and /or Maths • Requirement in post-16 education that all students who don’t have a grade 4 in at least one English (Lang or Lit) or a grade 4 in Maths at the end of GCSE must be working towards this in Year 12 and 13.

• New prospectus - paper and on school website very soon Post-16 Open Evening Thursday 19 January 5-7pm • Taster lessons in GCSE time (w/c 23rd January) • New courses –Taster sessions (30th January-sign up) • Post-16 interviews after half-term (February-March) + CONNEXIONS interview • GCSE Results day (24th August) • Sixth Form Enrolment Day ( 25th August) Start making plans and researching now for what courses /options are available after Year 11- Sixth Form, College, Apprenticeship etc.
