Lomeshaye Life Only 4 more school days to go until the holiday. All of the children have worked very hard this week, completing assessments and tests in reading, writing and Maths and teachers are very pleased with the progress that they are all making. Over the holiday children will receive homework to help them to remember key learning from the term so that when they return in January they will be ready to make even more progress. Please make sure that your child completes their homework and reads to an adult every day. Christmas Choir at Morrisons—Today children from our school choir went to perform some Christmas songs for the local residents of Nelson. They sang for an hour at Morrisons to help cheer up the shoppers and were a credit to the school. People visiting the store were so impressed that they went inside and bought the children several boxes of chocolates which they thoroughly enjoyed when they got back to school. Over the last 12 months our school choir has gone from strength to strength with huge numbers now attending regularly to sing with Mrs. Brunton. In February, 30 members of the choir will be taking part in a massed choir event at the MEN Arena in Manchester showing off their amazing voices and representing the school with thousands of other children.
Are You Smarter Than A 10 Year Old?—Children from across school took part in a general knowledge quiz this afternoon organised by Miss Shaw following the format of the popular TV show Are You Smarter Than a 10 Year Old? The children have attended a club over the past 7 weeks to help them to improve their quizzing skills and competed in their house teams to become this terms champion. The whole school watched the fun and cheered on their team mates, it was great fun! In the Spring Term children will compete again, but this time they will have adult competition with the governors joining in the game too. (Thanks also to our guest quiz master, Mr. Simon Simons.)
