Ref: PQ/RS/62192 15 December 2016 Dear Parent/Guardian I am writing to inform parents about a situation which occurred that is thankfully now resolved. Some pupils in our school received unwanted online attention from an individual. We worked closely with the police and North Tyneside Social Services to support the young people and their families and there are no longer any concerns. What this has done is highlight once more how important it is that parents are aware of their children’s online activities and the profile that they have on social media. Please can you check your child’s accounts to ensure that settings are such that any personal information is kept private. Within school we are going to deliver a series of workshops to every student in the school entitled “Staying Safe”. These workshops will be co-delivered by the staff from our RSD department and from North Tyneside Social Services department who have a particular specialism in keeping children safe. The safeguarding of our young people is of the utmost importance and I would ask you to have conversations with your child about their online activity. Finally, I would like to wish you all a very safe and Merry Christmas and we look forward to welcoming our students back at 8.30am on Tuesday 3 January 2017. Yours faithfully

Mr P Quinn Headteacher
