Monday 12th December 2016 Our News! We hope that you will enjoy the performances of A Wriggly Nativity next week. The children have been working really hard to learn their lines clearly, sing the songs brilliantly and are ready to perform with confidence in their dress rehearsals for the Beehive Nursery and the rest of the school this week! Please send in any outstanding costumes by Wednesday at the latest! We have also been learning some carols and other Christmas songs ready for the carol service at Rossall Chapel next week. They especially love singing The Twelve days of Christmas! Today we had a visit from the Blackpool Sixth Form College band. The children loved listening to the different real live instruments and singing along to the Christmas songs. The children have enjoyed learning about what Advent means and how Christians countdown to Christmas, remembering the birth of baby Jesus, who they believe was given as a gift from God. Each day we are looking in the pockets of our calendar and counting down the days until Christmas day. The children have enjoyed helping to turn our workshop role play area into a Santa’s workshop and love wearing the Santa’s Elf hats to practise their cutting skills and wrapping presents with plenty of wrapping paper!!!! They have told us how they have decorated their homes ready for Christmas and they loved getting our home corner ready too! Some of them have written lovely Christmas shopping/party lists. We enjoyed reading The Jolly Postman and A Letter to Father Christmas and have worked really hard to write our addresses on our envelopes. Keep an eye out in the post for your Christmas card over the next few weeks! We are currently in the middle of writing our Christmas lists and letters to Santa, just in case we get a visit from him at our party! You never know!! The children can now bring in their own Christmas cards to sort and deliver to their friends. It would be really good if they can write them themselves!! In Mathematics we have been going on 2D and 3D shapes hunts around school, making Christmas pictures with shapes, building models and printing repeating patterns using shapes dipped in paint. Some of us have created lovely shape pictures using a computer programme.
