Lomeshaye Life This week has been very busy for pupils and adults alike. We have come to the end of our first learning theme of the half term and our whole school Diversity theme will start on Monday with an exciting carousel day for all of the children. Fencing Club— Over the last 6 weeks children from different classes in school have been taking part in a new and exciting after school fencing club. Fencing is a sport which requires skill, accuracy, agility and tactics so that one person can defeat their opponent. This sport is included in the Olympic games where metal swords and special masks are used. Our children in the club have foam swords and masks to protect their faces. They have been learning the special ways to hold the sword and the commands that are used such as “on guard” and have been having lots of fun. This week two of our school governors came to the club on Wednesday to see the wonderful skills that the children have been developing.

Year 4 Rivers Trip—all of our Year 4 classes went to the RSPB Centre in Lytham this week to support their learning about rivers. The children have been studying rivers in school as part of their geography work and have also been learning about the water cycle in Science. The children learnt about the way that a river flows from the source into the sea and enjoyed many practical activities about the things you might find on a beach. During the trip the children were wonderfully behaved and lots of positive comments were made by the people that they met on their visit. Well done Year 4 for your super behaviour and great learning.
