Friday 11th November 2016 Our News! A huge well done to all of the Ducklings for settling back into school so well after their holiday. All of the adults in school are so proud of how independent they all are at coming into school in the mornings and organising their belongings. Keep it up! The children’s writing is really coming along. They have enjoyed sharing their holiday news with the class and writing all about their holidays. We can tell that the children have been practising learning their sounds and tricky words that have been sent home. They are putting this knowledge into practise as they start to blend the sounds to read words and simple sentences. We have brought our autumn topic to an end by reading and comparing different versions of The Little Red Hen story. We know the story so well that we can retell it ourselves using the repeating vocabulary from the story. In our creative learning we have been exploring mixing the primary colours together with our finger tips to see what colours they make. We have then printed with these colours to make some lovely autumn trees. Outdoors we have loved using the ‘mud kitchen’ to create our own recipes and potions. In our farm shop we have been using the balance scales to find the heaviest and lightest vegetables and outside we have been weighing natural autumnal objects that we have collected. Also in mathematics the children have been busy ordering numbers. The children have enjoyed trying different kinds of bread during snack time this week and discussing their most and least favourite! Our funky fingers activity has proved very popular this week! The children have been very carefully using hammers to hammer nails into a giant pumpkin!
