Lomeshaye Life Welcome back after the half term break. I hope that everyone had a good rest over the holiday and enjoyed spending some quality time together. Very sadly during the week some local children were involved in a very serious incident involving fireworks, which has resulted in them sustaining life changing injuries. These children were not Lomeshaye pupils, however we wish the best for the children and the families concerned and hope that those injured make the best recovery that is possible. This is a devastating reminder of the dangers of fireworks and how they should not be played with or touched by any children.
The new half term has started well for all of our pupils in school. We have new learning themes across school and a curriculum newsletter will be with all of our parents shortly giving details of what your child will be learning between now and the Christmas holidays. The themes for this half term are: Year 3—How to train your dragon and Diversity (Christianity) Year 4—River Rapids and Diversity (Buddhism) Year 5—Out of this world and Diversity (Judaism) Year 6—The Highwayman and Diversity (Hinduism) Our creative partner, Nicole, will be working with Year 4 and Year 6 pupils over the next 6 weeks to develop speaking, listening, drama and writing skills. Children in Need— Friday 18th November is Children in Need day and the school council have met to decide how we are going to raise money as a school. We are going to have a SPOTACULAR NON UNIFORM DAY on Friday where everyone can dress in their own clothes including something with spots on. The spots could be on the clothing or drawn/painted on clothes or your child’s face. There will be donation of £1 required for wearing your own clothes and spots and a competition will run in school with the class that has the most spots winning a prize. There will also be a cake/bun sale organised by the WOW group (Women of Whitefield). Cakes and buns will be sold between 11.00 and 11.30am on that day, plain buns will cost 20p each and decorated buns will be 50p each. Please show your support for this fantastic charity.
