Welcome back to school after the ½ term break. We finish for our next holiday on Wednesday 21st December at 1pm; there will be no afterschool provision that day.

Please take a moment to view your child’s class attendance for last ½ term. Our school target for the year is 98%. Please remember that all absences, even authorised ones, affect your child’s attendance. Whilst we would like all children to be attending school regularly please remember that if they are suffering with a norovirus type bug (sickness and diarrhea) they should remain at home for 48 hours after the last bout of illness; this will ensure your child the norovirus bug does not spread through school.

CONGRATULATIONS Celebration Assembly 21.10.16 During our celebration assembly this morning the following children were recognised by their teachers for excellent behaviour, effort and attitude. This month’s Gospel Value is Patience.

School Building Priorities Over the summer holidays we had a wide range of building work completed to continue with our expansion and modernization. Work undertaken included: a £165,000 new gas heating boiler which replaced the outdated and expensive oil boiler (funding made available from a successful LCVAP grant bid); modernization of staff toileting facilities (from three to five toilets); new cookers and refrigeration equipment for the school kitchen (£10,000). CCTV fitted to the upper KS2 external areas to increase security. We also purchased an external table tennis table to supplement the games tables bought during the summer term.

Over the past three years we have successfully accessed nearly £2,000,000 in grants to modernise and extend the school site. This week, I will be completing a new funding bid with the hope of accessing funds to continue with our modernization - plans include bidding for funds to extend external play areas. Bidding for property development grants is always a difficult and frustrating time with the majority of schools submitting proposals

but with a limited amount of funds available; it is also a lengthy process with decisions not being made until the summer term.

In the meantime I will be working closely with some of our pupil leader groups to develop the play space currently available. Thank you to out PTFA who are keen to support funding in this area. They most recent fundraising event - Scary Raffle- raised £145, thank you.

Pupil Leader Development Priorities Pupil voice plays an important part of the leadership at St Anne’s. We have a wide range of pupil leader groups who have recently evaluated their impact during the 2015/16 term and suggested priories for 2016/17. Please read their evaluations on our school website; I am sure you will agree that they are all a credit to the school. Later this week, you will receive a ‘Pupil Leader Development Plan Postcard’ which will highlight 6 priority areas that our pupil leaders will be focusing on for the coming year; this is being shared with parents/carers, pupils, governors and the LA. Thank you children for your enthusiasm, excellent behavior and commitment to making St Anne’s a special place to be.

School Chaplaincy Team Congratulations to our school Chaplaincy Team who attended a special Mass and training day at Salford Cathedral on 18th October. It was lovely to receive excellent reports about your contribution to the day and behavior from Father Glover and Diocesan representatives.

School fundraiser This week we will be selling raffle tickets with a chance to win an iPad mini. Ticket are on sale, £1.00 a strip, from the school office and will also be available on the playground.

Funds raised will go towards Christmas treats for our pupils.
