TRAVEL, TOURISM and EVENTS MANAGEMENT AT HUDDERSFIELD NEW COLLEGE
Travel, tourism and Events management Huddersfield New College’s Travel and Tourism department benefits from experienced teachers with industry connections. Students receive outstanding learning support and are given plenty of opportunity to study abroad or take on additional qualifications. The Travel and Tourism industry is one of the biggest in the world. The industry employs people in international locations as well as airports, tourist attractions and cruise ships. Employers include British Airways, Alton Towers, Disneyland, Centre Parcs, Cunard and many more. The department offers both academic and vocational courses to suit different learning styles. All students who study in the department will be offered the opportunity to complete work experience in industry based placements, as well as attend trips and visits to enhance your understanding of the hospitality sector. In addition to your programme of study you many also have the opportunity to work towards the NCFE Air Cabin Crew, NCFE Resort Representative or NCFE Event Planning qualifications. These qualifications are invaluable to students, whether they are hoping to move straight into the world of work, of whether they wish to pursue their studies in higher education.
A dedicated team of teachers will guide you through your study programme, providing support along the way to help you maximise your potential and achieve your qualifications. Trips and Visits The department is well known in college for it’s trips and visits! This year students stayed overnight in London for the opening night of the Cruise and Maritime Voyages’ new ship, Magellan, as well as having the opportunity to work abroad in Sweden and Dublin. Additional NCFE Qualifications You have the opportunity to take additional qualifications that can enhance your study. These include: NCFE Level 2 Certificate for Airline Cabin Crew This qualifications prepares students for entry into the airline industry and is predominantly practical based. This is completed over a one year period, being delivered via one lesson per week.
NCFE Level 2 Award for Resort Representatives This qualification is endorsed by Thomas Cook and guarentees an interview for students who complete this qualificaiton, requiring you to study four mandatory units and one optional unit. It will prepare you to work as a skiing rep, villa rep, transport rep or resort rep. NCFE Level 2 Certificate Planning This qualification provides you with the necessary skills for planning events across a variety of sectors. It is completed over a year and delivered via one lesson per week.
