The department has excellent links with local and national media organisations and universities. Each year we welcome visiting speakers from a range of media industries, including film directors, journalists and special effects technicians. We attend courses at the National Media Museum, take trips to the BBC & Warner Bros. Studios and students regularly enter national film competitions. Many of our students go on to take Creative Media related courses at university.

ABOUT the subject Do you consider yourself a creative individual? Do you enjoy computer games? Would you like a career in the film or television industry? The BTEC Level 3 Foundation Diploma/Extended Diploma in Creative Media (TV, Film and Radio) is equivalent to 3 A Levels. You will make a range of moving image products, from initial concept to planning, development and filming and in doing so, you start to develop the technical skills to work in the film and television industry. You will learn to work together in teams, and also individually, to produce vocational projects. BTEC courses use a combination of assessment styles to give you confidence to apply your knowledge to succeed in the workplace. You develop study skills to continue learning on higher education courses and throughout your career. The range of both practical and written vocational assessments mean you can showcase your learning and achievements to best effect when you take your next step, whether that’s supporting applications to higher education courses or potential employers.
