Lomeshaye Life Welcome to the first newsletter of the new school year. All of our new pupils and staff have settled into their new school very well and some excellent learning is taking place already. Read on to find out more about what has been happening this week in school... Book fair— our fantastic annual school book fair arrived in school this week and Ms. Harvey and Mrs. Wilkinson have welcomed visitors and customers to browse through the selection of books throughout the week from 3.15pm. The good news is that the book fair will still be in school next week so if you would like to treat yourself to a new story or information book to read, come along to see what we have on offer. Parent Welcome Meetings—Many thanks to all of the parents and family members that joined us on Wednesday and Thursday after school for the parent welcome meetings. These meetings are a great way of keeping you informed about teaching and learning in your child’s class and how you can help them at home. I hope that you found the information on how we assess children’s progress useful as there have been many changes in this area which can be difficult to understand. Our next parents evening will be taking place just before we break up for half term at the end of October, so if you have any further questions about your child’s learning that would be a good opportunity to ask, or alternatively make an appointment at any time with the class teacher to discuss any aspects of school life or your child’s work . Year 3 Coffee Morning— It was lovely to see some of our new Year 3 parents attending Mrs. Safdar’s coffee morning this week. Those who attended were able to have a more personal chat with class teachers in Year 3 and to start forming positive relationships with your child’s new school. We hope to see many more parents throughout the year at coffee mornings and school events as well as at our wonderful parent classes that are organised by Mrs. Safdar. Please look out for any letters coming home about our parent work and if you would like to speak to Mrs. Safdar she will be out on the school yard each morning from 8.45am. School Photographs— On Thursday all children had their photograph taken by our professional school photographer. Children have had an individual portrait and a photo with their brothers or sisters in school. The sample copies of the photos will be delivered to school in the next few weeks and you will be able to choose the best shots and order them.
