Dear Parents, It has, as ever been wonderful to welcome the children, looking so smart in their new uniforms back to school this week – we have really missed them! We have had a very good and sunny start to our new school year with the children settling well and a lovely calm atmosphere throughout the school with children working hard but happily. The teachers have also all been working hard over the summer planning lots of interesting and exciting lessons and activities. You will be given a preview of these in your class meetings with the teachers this week and next. If you want any more information about what the children are learning check out the class pages on our website: www.bishopmartin.lancs.sch.uk Behaviour on the playground and around school has been excellent, with lots of examples every day of the children and staff living our school values of Kindness, Respect, Friendship, Love, Trust and Fellowship. Our values underpin everything we do and are a strong element in making Bishop Martin such a happy place to be. This was recognised by the inspection in our Outstanding SIAMs inspection in July. Our results last year again place Bishop Martin amongst the top performing schools in the area and perhaps as a result we are receiving a lot of requests for places and have been happy to welcome quite a few new starters to school. All the staff have been so proud of how kind and friendly our children have been in helping them settle in. On behalf of all the staff I would like to say a huge thank you for the many generous gifts you gave us at the end of the school year. It is our privilege to teach your children but it is always nice to be appreciated and we do love chocolate! On a personal note thank you for the warm welcome back I have received following my operation. It is good to be back at wonderful Bishop Martin. I am available to meet with any parents who wish to see me. Just speak to the office to arrange an appointment. Thank you for all your support. WELCOME BACK!!! Mrs Gray - Headteacher Data Collection Sheets Data collection sheets have all the information on for school to contact parents and carers in case of emergency. These sheets have now gone out, please amend any details, sign it and send it back to school by Friday 16th September. Note: If your child is regularly seen by any health agencies (such as paediatricians, opticians, dietitians etc) to receive medication or ongoing support, it is vital that this information is shared with school. This includes asthma, eczema, dietary needs, allergies etc. Knowing this information helps us to ensure we are providing any necessary support for your child. You can also ask your health professional to send copies of any letters or reports to the school.
