Friday 18th December Elizabeth and her baby recognise the presence of God in Mary and her baby. What a surprise it must have been, clearly to see the presence of God so powerfully in an unborn baby. Are we as ready as Elizabeth was, to recognise God in the everyday experiences of our lives, or in the familiar people around us? Are we truly ready to welcome God into our lives, wherever we may encounter him?

TERM DATES 2016/2017 will be available on the website shortly.

A reminder that school will be open as normal from Monday 4th January.

POBBLE ‘Pobble’ is coming to our school on 6th January. This is a company who publishes children’s writing in a safe way, with children able to view and ‘like’ work from schools around the world. See www.pobble.com for more details.

As the first term of the year draws to a close, may I thank you for all of your support since September. I know that we have made many changes and your support and words of encouragement and thanks have made a world of difference.

MR WALTON It is with great sadness that we bid farewell to Mr Walton today. His contribution to the school can not be underestimated and I know that I speak for staff, children and parents when I say he will be sorely missed.

WEBSITE The lack of power and internet last week has meant that the website is not as up to date as we would like. Please keep checking it over the holiday as we hope to get it up to date!

CHRISTMAS WEEK We have had a lovely week this week and the behaviour of the children has been praised on several occasions by visitors to the school. Well done children! From all the staff of The Cathedral Catholic Primary School, I wish you a peaceful Christmas full of blessings and best wishes for 2016!

RE INSPECTION The Section 48 RE Inspection is now published and each family should have received a copy. I am very proud of the outcome of the inspection and feel that it gives us a positive starting point for our upcoming OfSTED inspection.

SOCIAL MEDIA During the power cuts last week, social media was a vital form of communication as many people could access it from their mobile phones. I would therefore ask that you follow us on twitter @cathedrallancs and join the PTA Facebook page. Please note that children will not be accepted on the social media sites.
