We are looking forward to continued improvements in our school building. Over Easter, the windows are being replaced in the Reception class and the playground is being repainted.

We are also hoping for spells of drier weather so that the children can start playing on the field again. We are still using the field for PE and, as it is muddy, it would be extremely helpful if you could ensure that your child has trainers for PE. Could I also remind you that in bad weather, children should go straight to their classroom doors in the morning rather than coming through the office area, as our office ladies are often busy, dealing with parent and telephone enquiries.

I look forward to seeing lots of you at our Parents’ Evenings next week on Monday and Tuesday.

Easter Egg Raffle Please could I remind you that the Easter Egg Raffle will be held during assembly on Tuesday 22nd March. Any donations of Easter eggs or other chocolate goodies would be gratefully received Raffle squares have gone home in book bags with a price of 20p for each square that you would like to purchase. Funds raised for the school will go towards our library refurbishment. Thank you for your support.

500 Word Story Competition Winners

Each week we will be printing one of the 500 word competition winners’ stories. This week it is Oliver in Year 6, who won with his entry ‘The Storm’. Warning – it is not for the faint-hearted!

It had been raging. Raging all day, all week to be accurate. The occasional lightning bolt would flash down, destroying the wall a tiny bit at a time. It was as if somebody was trying to attack their fort; these were dark times and it was likely an evil wizard was trying to obliterate them all. But Rob wouldn’t let this happen.

He couldn’t let a storm ruin them. He had recently just slain a dragon, what could a storm do to him? That would be found out in time…

“Aaahh!” someone screamed. Rob dashed over.

“What is it, soldier?” asked Rob. “Tornado…in the distance, coming this way!” he replied. Indeed there was. The sound of the wind was like ten thousand wolves howling together. The grey lines of wind were whirling around the giant vortex!

This was bad. With a castle full of one million people, the massacre would kill thousands, but it was the only chance he had.

“Sound the siren!” he bellowed at the top of his voice. Sudden screams could be heard over the siren.

Rob jumped down off of the battlements into the crowd. He dodged through the mad, running people and grabbed a lever and yanked it. The heavy, wooden drawbridge thundered to the ground. Everyone ran out of the castle screaming, scattering helplessly. The rest of the soldiers retrieved the panicked horses to escape on. After many were on a horse, they galloped away to find sanctuary into the ravine stretched out before them.

“Sir, we need to find camp for everyone who survived,” urged Rob’s second-in-command. Rob was staring out into the distance at what was once his home, as the sudden grey horror ripped through the walls, lifting the remains of the castle up into the air.

They rode off into the dense, dark forest to find shelter for the night.

The guards were taking in turns to stand on watch to stop enemies attacking.

“It’s coming again! This way!” yelled a soldier. Rob quickly sat up and saw the grey wavy lines of the tornado mysteriously disappear. A giant rock, the size of a carthorse, fell right in front of Rob. “Run!” screamed Rob. Debris was plummeting down towards the ground, smashing everything in its path.

The remaining survivors ran as fast as their legs could carry them.

Year 5 Football

Well done to our triumphant Year 5 football team who won the ALT Year 5 Football Tournament last Friday. They remained unbeaten by the other Lowestoft ALT schools, and eventually won on goal difference.

The children were awarded their medals in Monday’s assembly and still have the trophy proudly displayed in their classroom! cont “In that cave!” shouted Rob, as they ran towards a gaping black hole. THUD! THUD! This was all that could be heard outside. But nothing was falling from the sky. So what was making that sound?

Smash! A giant scaled fist broke through the roof of the gloomy tavern.

A colossal eye looked down upon them, it was a nasty shade of red and the eye showed the evil nature of this beast. The eye lifted from the hole and instead of it coming back down, a spurt of flame came from the beast, eating their souls!
