Lomeshaye Life What an exciting week we have had at Lomeshaye Junior School. The children have been busy working on their learning theme which includes lots of elements of art and some classes have also been developing their design and technology skills. It has also been a special week in school because we have celebrated World Book Day. Read on to find out more... The New Look Lomeshaye— as you may have noticed we have had the school playgrounds marked with exciting new games and activities that will support learning in the outdoors. We have also invested in signs and posters in the playgrounds in order to help make playtimes more interesting. This is all part of our New Look Lomeshaye, developing the outside areas is important to us as it helps to stimulate pupils and keep them engaged at playtimes and also provides opportunities for learning out of the classroom. A climbing/traverse wall has been installed in our new yard and children will be trained how to use this safely and shortly we will be having a bike store installed in the main yard so that children can come to school on their bike or scooter and keep it locked away safely until they are ready to go home. These additions will help to encourage healthy lifestyles with the children as well as making coming to school fun.

Part of our New Look Lomeshaye is the redesigning of the school logo including our new school motto ASPIRE-BELIEVE-ACHIEVE. The motto is now painted onto the playground and a competition has been launched for pupils to design a new school logo. Please encourage your children to take part, competition entries must be in school by Wednesday 9th March 2016. Once a winning design has been chosen new signs, letter headed paper, books, journals and uniforms will be made. Every child in school will be given a new uniform for the new school year FREE of charge. Parents’ Evenings—Thank you to all parents that attended parents evening this week. It is very positive to know that we are able to work well in partnership with you and that you value your child’s education. We hope that you found the information and progress updates on your child useful. Safety Day—On Monday we had a safety themed day with visitors from the Road Safety Team and the Canal and Water Safety organisation. All pupils took part in assemblies and presentations from our visitors which helped to give important information of keeping safe on the roads and near water. World Book Day— On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day in school by dressing up as some of our favourite book characters and joining in with a variety of book related activities in different classes. Here are pictures of some of our costumes. It was great fun!
