Anastasia - A Cut Above! We are very proud of Anastasia in Giraffes' class who had 30cm of her hair cut off last week! After seeing an advert about children with cancer, she wanted to help those children who lose their hair following treatment. She discovered that it costs £350 to make a wig and asked her parents if she could donate her hair. Not only has she done that, she has also raised £100 for Little Princess Trust, a charity who helps children with hair loss. If you would like to donate to this, Anastasia’s fundraising page is - www.gofundme.com/gbppbub8
Sumdog Competition After doing so well in the last competition we entered, all classes from Y1-Y6 have been entered into the Sumdog Lancashire Maths Contest which will take place from 11th March to 17th March. As well as being able to take part at home, the computer suite will be open at lunchtimes during the contest if children wish to take part during school time. Please see your child’s class teacher if your child is unsure of their password. Good luck everyone! Head Lice There has been a report of head lice in our school. “Head lice are tiny insects that live in human hair. They're particularly common in children. Head lice are whitish to grey-brown in colour, and smaller than the size of a pinhead when first hatched. When fully grown they're about the size of a sesame seed. They can't fly, jump or swim and are spread by head-to-head contact, climbing from the hair of an infected person to the hair of someone else. A head lice infestation isn't the result of dirty hair or poor hygiene. All types of hair can be affected, regardless of its length and condition.” (http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/Head-lice) Please check your child’s hair tonight and treat if necessary. For more information please see website above.
Parents Evening Booking System Our next parents evening is on Monday 21st March and we are trialling a new automated system. We have sent a text message with a link where you can book appointments to see your child/ren’s class teacher. You also have an option to meet with our Headteacher, SENCo and Learning Mentor. (These are not compulsory meetings only if you feel you need to see them). Do not worry, if you are not sure just pop in to the school office and we will show you how or manually book your appointments.
