Key Stage 2 SATs Information In 2015/2016 children in all years at Key Stage 1 and 2 are expected to now study the new national curriculum. At Carleton Green, the Lancashire KLIPS (Key Learning Indicators of Performance) have been incorporated in an online assessment and reporting system called Ezapp which is what we use to ensure that we are covering all new curriculum targets necessary for the children to achieve in the new tests. From this year, scores will be reported as scaled scores rather than as a level. It is planned that 100 will always represent the ‘national standard’ and there will be both a lower end point and an upper end point. The exact details of this are yet to be revealed and are not expected until July, once performance on the new tests has been seen nation wide. In July, parents will receive: • A raw score (number of raw marks awarded). • A scaled score in each tested subject. • Confirmation of whether or not they attained the national standard. SATs week will commence on 9th May 2016 and will be in the following order: • • • • •
Monday 9th May, English reading test (60 minutes to read the texts and answer questions). Tuesday 10th May, English grammar, punctuation and spelling test, paper 1, short answer questions (45 minutes). Tuesday 10th May, English grammar, punctuation and spelling test, paper 2, spellings (20 questions to be answered in approximately 15 minutes). Wednesday 11th May, mathematics paper 1, arithmetic test (30 minutes) and mathematics paper 2, reasoning (40 minutes). Thursday 12th May mathematics paper 3, reasoning (40 minutes).
Writing will be ‘Teacher Assessed’ internally. You can help your child by: • reassuring them that there is nothing to worry about and that they can only try their best. • ensuring that you child has the best possible attendance at school. • supporting them with the reading, SPaG and maths papers that are being sent home on a weekly basis. • making sure that your child has a good sleep every night and a healthy breakfast every morning.
