The cold snap appears to have ended for the time being but please continue to send your children with coats and hats as I know they are appreciated during break and lunchtime! Also, PE continues to be taught outside too, so please ensure your children have sweatshirts and jogging bottoms for the colder days. It would also be helpful, for health and hygiene reasons, if long hair could be tied back and earrings removed, particularly on PE and Art days.

Easter Dates In an amendment to the term dates that were issued last year, the last day of term before Easter is Thursday 24th March and not Friday 24th March as advertised.

The term has really got into gear now and this week a team of Year 6 went to the Lowestoft Indoor Athletics competition and Year 5 visited Dunwich on a field trip.

Bingo Night Update

Important Dates for the Diary

We have had a good response to the Bingo night on Friday 29th January at 6pm but we would love to see more of our school community at this special and fun family event.

Friday 29th January – The Friends of Reydon Primary Family Bingo night at the Pavilion, Southwold Common at 6pm.

Tuesday 2nd February – Year 6 Basketball tournament at Worlingham - Year 6 SATs information evening 6pm - Parent Café/ Topic Afternoon for Year 1 parents 2.15pm 3.30pm - Parent Café for Year 4 parents 2.30pm Wednesday 3rd February - Parent Cafés for Reception and Year 6 parents at 2.30pm Thursday 4th February - – Year 4 Football at Red Oak and Parent Cafés for Year 2 and Year 3 parents at 2.30pm Monday 8th February – Parent Café for Year 5 parents Thursday 11th February – Topic fair (Years 1-6) and Open afternoon for Reception 2.45pm Monday 15th February – Half Term starts Monday 22nd February – Start of school and Full

Tickets are available from the School Office and the Pavilion and are priced at £6 for adults, £5 for children or £20 for a family ticket including sausage and chips. Younger children who can't play are welcome and additional sausage and chips can be purchased in advance for £3.50. There is also a vegetarian option. Please check for letters in bags.

The invitation is open to family and friends of the school, the more the merrier so please spread the word. Funds raised will be used to reenergise the school library.

We would also welcome any unwanted gifts as possible prizes, suitable for either adults or children.

Your donations should be in ‘unused’ condition and in the original packaging. Thank you in advance for your support.

Dunwich Day Out

Governors meeting

Indoor Athletics The Year 6 athletics team took part with 22 other schools from the local area, in an indoor athletics competition at Water Lane on Wednesday.

Our team competed very well in the events which included the Triple Jump, the Javelin and the Relay. Whilst we did not win, the children worked really well together as a team. Thank you to our ‘cheerleaders’ Miss Prindible and Mrs D Sutton who supported the team.

Year 5 had a fantastic day out in Dunwich on Wednesday as part of their Geography based topic ‘Treasure Maps’.

Firstly they explored the beach, went on a scavenger hunt and even took part in some installation art!

Afterwards the children visited the Dunwich museum and had a talk about ‘The Rise and Fall of Dunwich’, as well as studying some of the local historical artefacts.

The children then met ‘Sister Luke’ who gave them a tour of the cliffs and ruins and explained what her life was like in the monastery.

The children really enjoyed the trip. Thank you to Mrs Hurren for organising it and Miss Read and Mrs Sutton for their support on the day.

Gymnastics Success Well done to Aaliyah in Year 2 who has recently qualified for the County Gymnastics Squad. She was also the first of the 2009-born children to be selected! We hope to hear of Aaliyah’s continuing competition success in the future.
