Lomeshaye Life BRRRR!!! It looks like winter has finally arrived with a good dusting of snow over the weekend. While the white-stuff looks very nice we all do have to be careful when coming to school and playing outside. Children will only be allowed out if the playgrounds are safe and slip-free. School will do it’s best to remain open even if there is more snow and there will be announcements on the local radio and Lancashire County Council and School Websites if we have to close at all. So let’s see what we were getting up to last week and what fun things are in store for the week ahead... Year 6 Visits To Marsden Heights— All of our Year 6 children visited Marsden Heights this week for a morning of Music led by the high school staff. The teachers at Marsden Heights were so impressed by the skills of our pupils that they send special messages to the school commending the children’s skills in music saying that our pupils are the best that they have ever had and also their behaviour. It makes us all so proud when children go out of school and represent us in this fantastic way, the comments about our musical ability are also very welcome as it must mean that the teaching and learning at Lomeshaye is great! ALWAYS Children Reward— This week our ALWAYS CHILDREN had their first reward for always behaving well and not getting onto the Amber or Red traffic light for their behavior all last term. So on Friday afternoon, Mr. Heseldon arranged for all of the children that had kept their behavior good or better to have an afternoon at Lomeshaye Junior School Cinema. A special film was chosen and shown on the big screen in our new hall and popcorn and drinks were served as a treat. We hope that lots more children keep their behaviour on the Green, Silver or Gold lights this term so that they can join in the reward at the end of this term too.
Things Planned for This Week— Year 5 and 6 visits to the park to learn about changes in seasons and our local environment. These simple park visits are very insightful for the children and they help the class teachers to cover important aspects of the Science curriculum.
