Lomeshaye Life

Welcome back after the holidays, we hope that you have all had a fun and relaxing two weeks and that all of our pupils are ready to come back to school to get involved with more exciting new learning over the coming half term. This week has got off to a great start with special visitors to school and a trip to see Cinderella. Read on to find out more... Year 6 Mayan Man— On Monday and Tuesday Year 6 were visited by “The Mayan Man” who was here to help them to learn about the ancient Mayan civilization. The pupils were able to take part in drama sessions, look at and handle artefacts and complete a work book filled with activities to help them to understand about when the Mayan’s were most influential and what their lives were like.

Year 3 Pantomime— As is traditional at this time of year our Year 3 pupils visited the Colne Muni this week to experience being part of the audience of a pantomime. The show that they watched was Cinderella and the cast were amazing. During a pantomime there is a great deal of audience participation, shouting out phrases such as, “he’s behind you” and “oh yes it is”, so before the children went they learnt some of the phrases that they would be expected to shout out so that they could join in with the experience as fully as possible. All of the children, and the adults, had a superb time. The pupil’s behavior was wonderful and all of the staff and governors that attended were extremely proud of them. Curriculum Overviews— This week has seen the start of new learning for all classes. This new learning is documented in our Curriculum Overviews which will have been sent home this week, you can also access this information on our school website (www.lomeshaye.lancsngfl.ac.uk) Please spend some time reading through what your child will be learning about over the coming weeks and if there is anything that you wish to discuss regarding the curriculum please make an appointment to see your child’s class teacher or make a note in the home school journal which can be responded to.
